Intercessory Worship
I asked Father what I should say to you today and the immediate response was “Why did I create you?”
I think back to the first book I wrote, Intercessory Worship and the Emerging Ecclesia. There lies the answer to that question. The Uncreated Godhead did not need us but having created Angels and having one third of them rebel announces: I will create man in our image and give him dominion of the earth. He will worship me, and I will commune with him. Though we know where things went with the first Adam and the requirement of the second Adam, Jesus the Godman to redeem and retore, nothing changed in Father’s purpose concerning worship and intimate relationship.
Worship and Intercession don’t just happen. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. It is a sacrificial process. Even Christ learned obedience through sacrifice. I contend that worship and intercession are most effective when employed together and when executed in your heavenly language of tongues gives the Father exactly what He desires because we have bypassed our own carnality.
King David presents a perfect start point to understanding intercessory worship as well as an indicator of where it should be as move toward the millennium.
David was the man after God’s heart because he always repented for his transgressions and gave his all in worship. It was a consuming fire in David. He made a sacred vow (Psalm 132:1-5) that his highest priority was to build a dwelling place or the Presence of God. David was extravagant in all things pertaining to God, especially worship.
To give you an idea of what I mean let’s examine his actions. With regard to the dwelling place for God, he established blueprints and set aside an enormous amount of wealth. If you go to First Chronicles you will find that he provided 100,000 talents of gold and 1 million talents of silver. With 1 talent being 1200 ounces and considering the current value of these precious metals you will find that we are talking about $241billion in US Dollars.
Now let’s examine the worship in the tabernacle. It was 24 hours a day and a heavy bill for the provision thereof. Again, if we examine First Chronicles, we see he employed 4,000 gate keepers, 4000 musicians, and 228 singers. At the time I wrote the book professional musicians earned $31/hour, singers even more and I have no clue about gatekeepers. Just for a picture let’s say an average of $30/hour x 8 hours/person x 8,228 personnel which equals right at $2,0000,000 per day.
In 2 Samuel 24:24, David also says that he will not offer burned sacrifices that cost him nothing. From David’s account we should learn that if it is convenient, non-sacrificial, and doesn’t place a demand on your faith – it is not worship.
Also, if we study the priesthood of David’s time, we find another truth, that being the cost of disobedience. Zadok and Abiathar were the heads of households of the Levite Priesthood. An unnamed prophet had previously visited Eli the priest with judgment because he allowed his sons to minister in such manner as to be an abomination to the Lord. Eli apparently didn’t learn the lesson God taught Aaron by the loss of his sons for offering strange fire. The prophet told Eli that the days were coming when God would raise up a faithful priest and that the authority of Eli’s house would be cut off as well as the strength of their days. Back to Zadok and Abiathar. Both seemed holy and consecrated but Abiathar ended up betraying David. Zadok represented the true priesthood. The two priesthoods run parallel to this day and speak to many issues in the body of Christ. The prophet Ezekiel describes those remaining loyal to God during the end time apostasy of the body of Christ as “sons of Zadok.”
But Christ will have a pure and spotless bride. When we accept Christ as Lord and Savior, our spiritual DNA becomes His. The Godman dwells in our earthen vessel that the power may be of God and not of us. The Divine nature of God inhabits our being and we become a new creature in Christ. It is the great mystery or sacred secret – Christ in us the hope of glory. We become joint heirs with the Son of God. This is our destined heavenly identity.
How will we live? If the Spirit of God that raised Christ Jesus lives in you, He will make you alive by bringing life to your mortal body. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. The spirit is the efficacy of the Word and the word is forever settled in heaven. When we allow God to change us by His Word, we know that we can do all things in Christ. He is the author, perfector, and finisher of our faith. Our confidence is in His righteousness and His finished work on the cross. Holy Spirit is our link or power-plug allowing us to replicate the worship created by the Father.
We must get this correct. Jesus himself said that many that called Him Lord will say that they did great works in His name, prophecy, cast out devils, etc., yet not know Him and He will cast them from His presence. This is the significance of intimate worship and communing with the Lord. There is no time to waste. You and I know that our sojourn here is but a vapor – here today and gone tomorrow.
The prophet Amos gave a prophesy concerning the coming Millennium: “I will raise up the tabernacle of David and restore its ruins.” Christ’s own will reign with Him in our joint inheritance. Glory to God. It is going to be beyond description.
Saints, it is time for the Ecclesia to arise and function such that His government can be established in the earth as in heaven and the consummation of eternal purpose be accomplished. We must take our share and bring heaven to earth. Nothing will happen without intercession, so it is a critical necessary that we understand what intercession is and practice the same. We first must know and realize that Jesus is “The Intercessor.” He started out doing it in perfection and has done it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 2000+ years and as we are informed in Hebrews 7:25 that He forever lives to make intercession for us. Intercede means “to go between”. Jesus goes to the Father to mediate and advocate for us, the heirs of salvation. Jesus ended the necessity of blood sacrifice of animals to become the eternal propitiation for our sins, the once and for all time sacrifice or atonement. Remember scripture tells us that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. Life is in the blood. After the ultimate sacrifice Jesus ascended to the Father and immediately placed His Blood on the mercy seat before sitting at the right hand of the Father to begin interceding for us.
Blood sacrifice did not end sacrifice, rather changed it. Now we place our heart on the altar of sacrifice. In Romans 12:1 Paul instructs us to offer our bodies as living sacrifice wholly pleasing to God which is our spiritual worship.
As you can or should see, knowing God is accomplished through communing in worship.
Jesus, mission accomplished, did not leave us alone, rather sent Holy Spirit to us as He had promised. Consider what happened. A small group of frightened disciples received power when Holy Spirit arrived and took the Gospel in their newly acquired power to the known world.
This acquired power was and is for all of us. We lost Christ’s concept of Ecclesia when Rome conquered in 70 AD and have been attempting to recover all these years, but we are in these days rediscovering it. Moves of Holy Spirit in the body of Christ which we refer to as revival have come and gone. It is going to take reformation. And we are on the precipice of a massive reformation and harvest of souls that dwarfs any and all work of the past. To be ready it is requisite to understand the basics. I identify with the military as that was a large portion of my life. The military constantly prepares and trains for war. It is a discipline that must become an automatic response. The same applies to the war we constantly battle in the spiritual realm. In both concepts, which are reality, there is no room for error. It is life or death. The weapons of our warfare are powerful to the pulling down of strongholds. We have been provided everything we need. We just need to use the provision.
Saints, we have access to the Godhead through the precious Blood of Christ. We enter through intercession and worship. We do this because we know that we need relationship and when we seek intimacy, we touch our Creator. Father creates worship and patiently waits for return of the sound He sent, which we, by Holy Spirit, return and it fills the Father’s heart. This is how we are able to move the arm of God and through faith, backed by His Dunamis power, move mountains that impede our way. When the corporate ecclesia presents intercession and worship in agreement, we have the promise of Jesus that it will be done by Father (Matthew 18:19-20).
Peter tells us that we are called to be kings & priests in His Kingdom (1 Peter 2:9-10). Being deemed a priest implies an easily discernable obligation to minister to the King and on behalf of all His servants. We have been given kingdom keys to open gates and declare Kingdom here as it is in heaven. The Hebrew word paga implies enforcement of the victory of Jesus on the cross. Paga can be pleasant or violent according to the purpose for which we engage. This is the most effective way in which we can bring change. We work in consonance with Holy Spirit to move the arm of Father.
Job 36:32 says, “He fills his hands with lightning and commands it strike the mark.” We intercede moving His hand to accurately engage the target. These lightning bolts bring His Light to bear dispelling darkness and accomplishing His will and purpose on earth as it is in heaven.
We are to be a Holy priesthood. It is our primary function and a calling applicable to us all. We are a prophetic people created for His vision and purpose. Proverbs 29:18 reminds us that without vision the people perish.
I’m not looking for fame and fortune. Anyone sent to nations will tell you that it’s cost to you is great both physically and financially. They will also tell you that the joy is far beyond comprehension. We gladly sacrifice all for the Kingdom of God. It is our pleasure and purpose as Ambassadors for Jesus Christ to reach for the lost.
Saints, start living in the supernatural. You might say Dr Guy that is easier said than done. That would be a correct assessment, but it is entirely possible and within your reach. It is your right as a redeemed child of God. When you yield all to God the anointing, which is the power and presence of the Almighty, will come upon you and lead you into supernatural living. I promise you that nothing in this world can even begin to compare with being in the Glorious Presence of God.
The Lord tells me that I’m speaking to many of you today that want this, so be bold and change your life for ever and for better. Your challenges will remain and actually increase, but you will be victorious. You will begin to count it all joy to know the power of His resurrection life. Do it now as you are not promised a tomorrow. Run to the secret place of the Most High God, spoken of in Psalm 91 and be overshadowed by the Almighty. The word used here is in the Greek “episkiazo” which is the same word as used when Mary was overshadowed to enable the incarnation of our Lord Jesus.
Blessings to you and yours, today and always
